missing posts?!
I haven't been here in ages. Then, a few weeks ago, I went back to find some old post I wrote and it's gone! In fact, I can only go back 500 posts. I can't believe I wrote so many posts, but that's beside the point. How do I get my old posts back? Does anyone know?

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm side tracked by some other writing projects and work and Annie. Life continues apace.

Hi! Glad you're still out there :) Have you tried going to your Archive link and searching through your posts that way? It's helpful if you know the date (or thereabouts) if you go that way, but I think that is the only way to retrieve those posts.

I didn't even know I had one! Where can I find it? (I looked, but appear to be an internet idiot today...)

There's a freeware program for Windows machines called LJ Archive. It downloads all of your LJ stuff onto your local machine. It's very good, and it will get everything.

Download it at http://sourceforge.net/projects/ljarchive/

excellent! I downloaded it and the file says it can't be run in DOS mode. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT HAPPY!!

That's weird. I just tried it out again and it worked fine. A Google search on "lj-archive" and "DOS mode" turned up nothing. (If you're using a Mac, then I'm really of no help here.)

I wish I had a good answer, but I don't. Sorry it didn't help.

Maybe I'll try from work. I am using a mac (and it's gone a bit wonky). Usually macs are better for stuff like this, but stranger things have happened.

you guys rock. a lot.
